UNIMC was very pleased to welcome Googlers from Google Ireland, Poland and Austria in our office in Vienna.

Emma, Tobias, Eva, Julian, Claudia and Kartazyna told the 70 interested students in the audience not only about the products Google offers for free to people all over the world, but also gave us an idea what it is like to work for Google. International teams, high re-sponsibility, space for new ideas, flexible working-times, offices where you can play soccer or playstation and free gourmet food ensure that Googlers love going to work, designing and developing products we all use everyday.

But Google is more than just good working conditions and well-known products like Google Chrome, Google Maps or Google Streetview. As a business, Google generates the majority of its revenue by offering advertisers measurable, cost-effective and highly relevant advertising, so that the ads are useful to the people who see them as well as to the advertisers who run them. In addition to that they build web applications, or “apps,” to make it simpler for people to share information and get things done together. Considering all this and the mission of Google to digitalize the worlds information, it is not surprising that Google is always looking for employees and hires great candidates from all academic backgrounds. That’s why during our Job-Talk we learned more about the Sum-mer Internship Program for students or the Online Media Associate Program (OMAP) for graduates in Googles EU Headquarters in Dublin, Ireland and in Wroclaw, Poland.

All in all we had a great evening with Emma, Tobias, Eva, Julian, Claudia and Kartazyna and did not only learn more about Google, its products and its philosophy but also that one can be serious without wearing a suit!
